In addition to AOF, there are two other key statewide faculty groups: the Interinstitutional Faculty Senate (IFS) and the statewide chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).
During 2014, the Oregon University System (OUS) is transitioning to a new governance structure. The three larger institutions (Oregon State University, University of Oregon, and Portland State University) will have their own governing boards effective July, 2014. These boards will report directly to the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC), which in turn reports to the Oregon Education Investment Board (OEIB).
The technical and regional universities (TRU’s), consisting of Oregon Tech, Eastern Oregon University, Southern Oregon University, and Western Oregon University will continue to be administered by the Oregon University System until at least July, 2015. Existing and recent legislation does allow the TRU’s to pursue a new governance model, and as of March, 2014, they are working towards having their own governing boards by July, 2015.
